Job Overview
Qatar Airways is looking for a Senior Business Specialist in Product Development & Design to support the Head of Commercial within the PDD division. This role focuses on financial evaluation, investment appraisal, and modelling for strategic initiatives, particularly in Inflight Catering & Culinary functions, cost optimization, catering tenders, and celebrity chef programs. You will provide both quantitative and qualitative financial guidance across project lifecycles, ensuring design and product decisions are aligned with commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and refine cost models to forecast key catering metrics, including cost per passenger, cost per meal, and wastage rates.
- Support business case development, including CAPEX/OPEX modelling and payback analysis.
- Contribute to long-term financial planning and annual budget cycles (5–10 year forecasts).
- Perform regular variance analysis and report findings to catering and culinary leadership.
- Support SMEs on procurement evaluations, contract structuring, and commercial negotiations.
- Prepare financial briefing materials for Steering Committee, C-Suite, and Board reviews.
- Maintain a repository of financial data, competitor analysis, and cost benchmarks.
- Ensure alignment of financial assumptions with business finance, strategy, and project management teams.
- Perform other department duties as directed by the Head of Department.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in financial data analysis, preferably in aviation, travel, or customer experience domains.
- Advanced Excel modelling and financial analysis skills.
- Strong understanding of financial metrics: TCO, ROI, IRR, NPV, and other project appraisal frameworks.
- Familiarity with procurement evaluation, vendor pricing, and contract commercial terms.
- Strong business acumen and ability to challenge assumptions and quantify impact.
- Excellent senior stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives under pressure with C-level exposure
