Job Overview

Qatar Airways Group is seeking a Manager Equipment Development to lead the development and enhancement of onboard equipment and amenities. This role involves managing product strategy, project lifecycles, supplier engagement, and collaboration across Qatar Airways and Qatar Executive. The position ensures all product initiatives align with brand, service, and operational strategies while driving innovation and enhancing passenger experience.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic

  • Lead product strategy development for onboard equipment and amenities in line with brand and service goals
  • Explore global markets for innovations and trends to maintain competitive advantage
  • Collaborate with Strategy Team on long-term equipment roadmaps integrating stakeholder feedback
  • Develop project plans ensuring efficient, creative, and cost-effective product development
  • Evaluate suppliers and manufacturers for technical capability and scalability
  • Define scope and brief documents synthesizing operational feedback and service requirements
  • Partner with Sponsorship Department for co-branded initiatives
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment across all customer touchpoints

Operational

  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycle: strategy, concept, design, prototyping, testing, and implementation
  • Lead supplier engagement, tenders, product evaluation, and selection
  • Liaise with design and brand teams to ensure governance and capture operational and brand standards
  • Oversee product testing with user departments prior to launch
  • Conduct costing, budgeting, and financial feasibility analysis for SKUs
  • Evaluate existing products for service delivery improvements and design enhancements
  • Ensure final product quality and obtain necessary approvals before launch
  • Implement mitigation strategies for development challenges
  • Perform other duties as directed by Head of Department

Qualifications & Experience

Strong passion for experience design and continuous learning

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in product development and design

Practical knowledge of project management tools

Strong understanding of color theory, materials, layout, product engineering, graphics, textiles, and visual communication techniques

Knowledge of product design processes, technologies, and design theory

Proficient in industry-standard 2D and 3D visualization tools
