Job Overview:
Qatar Airways is seeking a Junior Sous Chef to assist the Sous Chef in creating high-quality dishes and ensure smooth kitchen operations. The role focuses on upholding food quality standards, maintaining hygiene, managing inventory, and supporting the culinary team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation and production as per standard recipes under the guidance of the Sous Chef.
- Collaborate with chefs to develop and test new dishes and beverages.
- Supervise kitchen staff to ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and comply with FSSC guidelines.
- Monitor the quality of raw and cooked products to maintain food standards.
- Conduct periodic inventory checks to minimize wastage and manage leftovers.
- Spot check culinary sections using daily checklists to ensure timely food production.
- Oversee kitchen stock movement and ordering systems to maintain optimal levels.
- Compile food orders for sections under supervision, ensuring accurate stock, deliveries, and wastage tracking.
- Perform other duties related to the section as directed by the Head of the Department.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant job-related experience.
Job-Specific Skills:
- Knowledge of ordering, purchasing, and inventory management.
- Expert understanding of raw material costs.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (FSSC).
- Creativity in dish and beverage preparation.
- Proficiency in food preparation and kitchen equipment.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and a team player.
Estimated Salary: QAR 9,000 – 13,000 per month (estimated, depending on experience)
